Lorena was born in Venezuela and spent her childhood summers at her grandparents' home in Spain — the country she later returned to for her training as an architect and a master's degree in interior design. For years she designed homes and commercial spaces in Madrid before moving to the United States, where she has now lived and worked for fifteen years, based between San Francisco and Petaluma.
It was in the Bay Area that photography became her primary language. Every session still begins the way an architecture project would — understanding the purpose, the lifestyle and the space before a single frame is shot. A creative brief, a styling plan, a color palette, built with the same intention as a floor plan.
Her longest-running subject is her son — photographed often, and watched growing up one frame at a time.
